EMI Calculator

Enter a loan amount, an annual interest rate and a tenure in months to estimate the equated monthly instalment. Alongside the monthly figure you also get the total amount repaid over the full term and the total interest paid, using the standard reducing-balance EMI formula.

The total interest line is the one worth studying. Stretching a loan over a longer tenure lowers the monthly payment while increasing what the loan costs overall, and the difference is often larger than people expect. Running two or three tenures through the calculator makes that trade-off visible before you commit.

How to Use the EMI Calculator

  1. Enter the loan amount you are considering.
  2. Enter the annual interest rate as a percentage, for example 10 for 10%.
  3. Enter the tenure in months — multiply years by twelve if your lender quotes years.
  4. Select Generate to see the estimated monthly EMI, total payment and total interest.

EMI Calculator FAQ

Is this a loan offer or an approval?

No. It is an independent estimate for planning only, and carries no offer, approval or commitment from any lender.

Does it include processing fees or insurance?

No. It calculates the instalment from the loan amount, interest rate and tenure alone. Fees and insurance charged by a lender are additional.

Why does my bank quote a different EMI?

Lenders add fees, may compute interest on a slightly different basis, and apply their own rounding. Treat this figure as an estimate and confirm the exact numbers with them.

What formula is used?

The standard reducing-balance EMI formula, with the annual rate converted to a monthly rate over the number of months you enter.

Can I use it for any loan type?

It suits fixed-rate loans repaid in equal monthly instalments, such as many home, car and personal loans. Variable-rate products will drift from the estimate as the rate changes.
